Students of all ages are given their piano lesson once a week at the Lawrenceville, NJ studio and play on a Steinway Model M piano. All students are given written assignments that detail everything they need to focus upon throughout the week. Students also have the option of having their piano lessons videoed and are sent a link to that video.
For those students who live too far away for in-person lessons, virtual piano lessons are offered using the Zoom platform. Written assignments are sent electronically immediately following the lesson and video recordings of the lessons (optional) are sent out within 24 hours.
This lesson duration is meant for younger students who may not yet be able to maintain their focus for a full hour. Students taking 45 minute piano lessons are expected to practice 30-45 minutes a day at least five days a week.
Any student may sign up for 60 minute piano lessons. A longer lesson allows us more time to master elements of technique and musicality. Younger students desiring this lesson length must be able to maintain their focus for the full hour. Students taking 60 minute piano lessons are expected to practice at least 45-60 minutes a day a minimum of five days a week.
There are two grand pianos side by side in the Lawrenceville studio for optimal learning and playing duets during piano lessons:
Near piano: Steinway Model M (2013)
Far piano: Baldwin Model L (1991)
An wall-mounted iPad (not pictured) is available to every student for lesson recording.
Parents and families have a comfortable area to sit, read, or do work during their child's piano lessons, complete with WIFI access and wireless phone charging if needed. There is also a table available for siblings to do school work.
For virtual piano lessons using Zoom, the studio is set up with two high quality microphones (one for the piano and one close to me), a laptop, and two cameras (one looking down on keys and one from the side.) Assignments are written electronically on an iPad and emailed to students at the conclusion of the lesson. Zoom lessons can be recorded and saved for review between lessons.
